Allows you to enter the root of a search term and replace the ending with an *   This allows the database to find all words with the same root.

Example  teach*-- will find teach, teacher, teaching

Wildcard symbol

Can insert anywhere within in a search term and it holds the place of a letter from A-Z

Example:    Wom?n  will find woman and women
