LibGuides Best Practices: Best Practices for Pages

Best Practices for Pages

Best Practices

  • Keep it short & sweet!
    • Use short, but descriptive, page titles. Use call to actions whenever applicable (ex. Find Books, Cite Sources)
    • If using the Tabbed Navigation layout, make sure your tabs fit on one line.
    • Too much content on a page can cause users to skip over things.
    • Use subpages to help break up content.
  • Avoid jargon when possible! (ex. Use "Magazines & Journals" instead of "Periodicals")
  • Use Friendly URLs - they make it easy for folks to remember how to get to the page!
