Adding Pages

Adding a New Blank Page

  1. Click the + button.
  2. Enter the following:
    • Page Name
    • Description (optional): Appears as a tooltip when hovering over the page name.
    • Position: A page can be a 'top-level' page or a subpage. (Subpages appear differently depending on the guide layout options you choose - check out page layout for more information.)
    • Profile Box - Display: You can display your own profile box, or that of anyone else in the system. The location of the profile box depends on what guide layout options you choose:
      • Tabbed Navigation: Profile appears at the top of the right-hand column.
      • Side Navigation: Profile appears on the left, below the list of pages.
    • Draft Mode: This is a great tool to use if your guide is already published. You can create a new page and add content without the public seeing it - until you're ready.
  3. Click Save.

Reusing Pages

Reusing Existing Pages

Types of Reuse

  1. Mapping

This is the default method of reuse. When the original page is edited, any "mapped" version of this page gets updated too. This can help create consistency, and save you time!

    • Ex. A page about interlibrary loan
    • Ex. A page about how to search a particular database
  2. Copying

If you want to reuse the original and then make your own edits, then you want to copy. This will allow you to change the content in your reused version, without affecting the original.

    • Ex. A page about APA citations - replace coworker's history-related citations with your own literature-related citations
    • Ex. A page showing sociology resources - you will reuse on the Women's Studies guide, and add additional resources
