Asset Types

Overview of Asset Types

There are ten standard assets that you can add to a content or standard box. Each asset type has it's own distinguishing features that make it worth adding to a guide.

 

Rich Text/HTML

Rich Text/HTML

  • Your standard WYSIWYG-based rich text content item. Add your own custom HTML, images, tables, etc. The possibilities are nearly limitless.
  • Note: Rich Text/HTML assets cannot be reused and are not included in the Assets repository

Database

Database

  • Add a link to a database that you have added to your A-Z list.
  • Databases are managed in the Databases repository and cannot be created directly from a guide.

Link

Link

  • Add a web link. Any link. 
  • Create a brand new link or reuse on of your existing links.
  • Included in Assets repository.

Media/Widget

Media/Widget

  • Add a widget for a video, search box, an iframe of another webpage, or anything else you can embed!
  • Adding your widget code through this asset type (instead of adding it to the Rich Text/HTML type) allows for the widget to be reused across your system.
  • Included in Assets repository.

Book from the Catalog

  • This one is pretty self explanatory. Add a link to a book from your catalog!
  • Add a brand new book or reuse an exisitng book from your system.
  • Included in Assets repository.

Document/FIle

Document/File

  • Upload a document to your guide that your users can quickly access and download.
  • Files can be up to 10MB in size
  • Add a brand new file or reuse an existing one from your system.
  • Included in Assets repository.

RSS/Feed

RSS Feed

  • Pull an RSS feed from your library's blog, a website, or something else.
  • The RSS feed asset has a built-in feed validator!.

Guide List

Guide List

  • Quickly create a list of guides from your system.
  • Manually select a list, or choose guides for subject, user or group.

Poll

Poll

  • Want to share a quick poll with your users?
  • You can poll a class, workshop or group that you are teaching on anything that you want.
  • Define up to 10 poll choices and add an optional link for each of them.

 

Google Search

Google Search

  • Add a Google search box.
  • Choose from a standard search, Google Books, Google Scholar, or Google Patents.

Asset pull down menu

The asset pull down menu is located at the bottom of every box. On this menu is the kind of content that can be added to any box. You can add multiple content assets to one box

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is the nation’s medical research agency. NIH is the largest source of funding for medical research in the world and is made up of 27 Institutes and Centers, each with a specific research agenda, often focusing on particular diseases or body systems. The National Institutes of Health traces its roots to 1887, when a one-room laboratory was created within the Marine Hospital Service (MHS), predecessor agency to the U.S. Public Health Service (PHS).
