Parts of a Citation

  • Author--who wrote, edited, or translated the text (sometimes all three)?
  • Title-- the title and subtitle of the book; title of the webpage, journal, magazine; collection, or series it appears in
  • Volume & issue (for periodicals)
  • Publication information:
    • publisher name and city, for books
    • database name for periodicals
  • Publication date or last updated date
  • URL (For web pages) DOI (for periodicals)
  • Date accessed  (for anything online)
